South Africa’s Timbavati

The Timbavati Private Nature Reserve is one of Africa’s most celebrated wildlife photography destinations. Famed for its leopard sightings and healthy populations of lions, elephants and occasionally, African wild dogs, the reserve offers a superb combination of diverse habitats, beautiful natural light and exceptional photographic opportunities. As part of the Greater Kruger ecosystem, wildlife moves freely across a vast unfenced landscape, creating dynamic and authentic safari encounters.

This week long photo safari is based within the reserve and is led by Alan Hewitt, a professional wildlife photographer. Throughout the trip, Alan provides practical, field based tuition designed to help guests improve their wildlife photography while experiencing one of South Africa’s finest safari regions.

Instruction is tailored to your experience level, whether you are refining technique or building confidence in the field.

On selected dates, this safari can be combined with Penda Photo Tours’ Botswana photography safari in Tuli Wilderness, offering a complementary Big Five experience across two distinct ecosystems.
